POLICE were preparing to arrest a paparazzi snapper linked to topless photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge.
The photographer’s name was passed to French detectives. Prince William and Kate were said to be “devastated” after hundreds of intimate snaps were taken, showing her exposing her breasts and bottom by a swimming pool.

They were taken in September at Chateau d’Autet, a holiday retreat in Provence owned by the Queen’s nephew, Viscount Linley. The pics were first published in French Closer magazine, and then in several other countries.
William called for the snapper responsible to be jailed under French privacy law which carries a sentence up to one year and a £36,000 fine.

A source close to the case said: “A name has been offered. The photographer is expected to be held for questioning imminently.”
French Closer editor Laurence Pieau hired a freelance photographer to watch the couple on their holiday but she refused to name them.
She accused William and Kate of over-reacting, saying: “These photographs are not degrading, they are joyous.”
