Like many women, Maria Jose Cristerna decided to get a makeover after a
difficult chapter in her life – but no other woman in the world has gone
through a makeover like this.
Cristerna has transformed herself into a vampire, complete with fangs and
horns on her head. She’s now known around the world as the Mexican Vampire
Woman. What might be more amazing than her appearance is the fact that she’s a
lawyer.
She's known as 'Vampire Woman'. Maria Jose Cristerna has spent years
re-inventing herself as something akin to a mistress of Count Dracula. Covered
in tattoos, she has dental fangs, titanium horn implants and over thirty
piercings. The lawyer and mother of four says she started her transformation
when she was 21 years old.
She said "It is a way of growing by changing bit by bit and obviously
this didn't just all happen from one night to the next; it was personal
motivation that made the difference. The way we mark ourselves is clearly
different for each individual."

She’s a graduate of UNIVA, a private Catholic university in Mexico, and
practiced law before starting her own business.
